SENECA NIAGARA CASINO & HOTEL UNVEILS NIAGARA FALLS' NEWEST WONDER - Project is Nation's latest accomplishment in Niagara Falls
NIAGARA FALLS, NEW YORK - The anticipation has finally ended. Representatives from the Seneca Nation of Indians and Seneca Gaming Corporation celebrated the official opening of the new Seneca Niagara Casino & Hotel at an afternoon ceremony.
"Let me be the first to welcome you to Niagara Falls' newest wonder - the new Seneca Niagara Casino & Hotel," John Pasqualoni, President and CEO, Seneca Gaming Corporation, said to the crowd of invited guests gathered in the hotel's grand lobby. "We hope that every guest who visits us enjoys the first-class atmosphere and service that separates a Seneca casino from all the others."
With this afternoon's ceremony, the first ten floors of guest rooms at Seneca Niagara Casino & Hotel were opened to the public. Guests can now stay in a selection of deluxe rooms, corner suites and one-bedroom suites, while work progresses on the remaining spaces in the hotel tower.
In addition to luxury accommodations, Seneca Niagara Casino offers an expanded gaming floor, and new dining, entertainment and retail destinations.
"Believe me, if you are looking for the complete entertainment experience and excitement, you have come to the right place," said Barry E. Snyder, Sr., President of the Seneca Nation of Indians and Chairman of Seneca Gaming Corporation. "The Seneca Niagara Casino and Hotel will offer an experience not to be found anywhere else in the region."
Seneca Niagara Casino & Hotel now offers 147,000 square feet of world-class gaming. Patrons can now choose from nearly 4,200 of the latest and most popular slot machines and 100 table games.
Complementing the casino's existing dining establishments, The Western Door: A Seneca Steakhouse and Thunder Falls Buffet, are La Cascata, a fine dining Italian restaurant, Three Sisters Cafe, a 24-hour eatery with a large, diverse menu, and Morrie's Express, which offers prepared sandwiches, salads and wraps. Koi, a Pan-Asian restaurant, is expected to open in January.
Located on the hotel's second floor, the new 2,000-seat Seneca Events Center is already attracting some of the biggest names in entertainment. Motown legends the Temptations will ring in the New Year with a performance for invited guests tomorrow night and Aretha Franklin will perform the first public concert in the new venue on January 1.
The hotel ceremony comes one day before the third anniversary of Seneca Niagara Casino's grand opening. In that time, Seneca Gaming Corporation has created 3,000 new jobs in Niagara Falls and attracts millions of visitors each year.
The construction of Seneca Niagara Casino and the new hotel has also served as a sign of tangible economic development taking place in Niagara Falls, New York, something that Nation and casino officials hope will serve as a catalyst for future development in the area.
"I am sure that this newest development by the Seneca Nation of Indians will help us deliver even more benefits to the local economy, which we hope will lead to the development of other exciting destinations in Niagara Falls," Snyder added.
The Seneca Niagara Casino & Hotel building, which stands 26 stories high, is now the tallest and most-recognizable structure in the skyline of Niagara Falls, New York. The hotel tower features nearly 7,400 insulated glass and panel units covering 196,730 square feet of space from the building's 3rd floor to the top level.
A large, illuminated feather measuring 51 feet x 17 feet, and a 19-story "light-waterfall" highlight the exterior design and create a dramatic visual display which can be seen from miles away.
The single feather is the recognized representation of the Seneca Nation of Indians within the nations of the Iroquois Confederacy. The Seneca people wear a single feather in their Gustoweh, or traditional headdress.
"The lighting effects on the outside of the building certainly help create a sense of excitement for people as they drive by and approach Seneca Niagara Casino & Hotel and hopefully will entice them to experience all that is happening inside," Pasqualoni said.
Final completion of the hotel project is targeted for the end of March 2006. At completion, Seneca Niagara Casino & Hotel will feature a total of 604 luxury rooms, a full-service spa and salon and indoor swimming pool on the third floor, and meeting space, in addition to the gaming and dining amenities currently open to the public.
