Free concerts, fireworks highlight weekend schedule
NIAGARA FALLS, NEW YORK - Seneca Niagara Casino, the first full-service casino in New York State, will celebrate the Independence Day weekend with a series of free outdoor performances, officials announced today.
The weekend schedule at Seneca Niagara Casino will feature outdoor concerts on Saturday, July 2 and Sunday, July 3. On Sunday evening, the Casino will light up the sky with fireworks.
"Seneca Niagara Casino has planned a true community celebration for the holiday weekend," John Pasqualoni, President and CEO, Seneca Niagara Casino said. "Niagara Falls is the perfect place for a great summertime event and we will create a festive atmosphere that the entire community can participate in and enjoy."
On July 2, Seneca Niagara Casino will present the NAMMY Winner's Showcase, a free outdoor concert honoring the best in Native American music. Part of the "Rock the Falls" free outdoor concert series, the show will feature Native American Music Award winners Martha Redbone, Derek Miller and Jana. The concert takes place at 4:00 p.m. in Lackey Plaza.
There will be a strong local flavor to the weekend as well. Local performers take to the stage on Sunday starting with USA Band at 12:30 p.m., followed by Joy and the Gasoline Cowboys, and About Face.
The local performances lead up to the third leg of the "Rock the Falls" free outdoor concert series featuring Creedence Clearwater Revisited. The group will play some of the hit songs that shaped the musical landscape of the 1960s and `70s. Special guest and NAMMY Award winners Keith Secola and Wild Band of Indians will get the show started at 3:00 p.m.
Seneca Niagara Casino will cap off the weekend festivities with a spectacular fireworks display at 9:45 p.m. on Sunday.
"The weekend promises to be a celebration to remember," Pasqualoni added. "We look forward to celebrating Independence Day and our nation's proud history with our friends and neighbors from throughout Western New York and the surrounding area."
