FUN GIRL CYNDI LAUPER RETURNS TO SENECA NIAGARA CASINO

NIAGARA FALLS, NY, April 2005 - Perpetually "fun" girl Cyndi Lauper is returning to Seneca Niagara Casino's Bear's Den showroom for a single performance on Sunday, June 19 at 8 p.m. Tickets are $30 and available at SenecaNiagaraCasino.com, Eight Clans Gift Shop, ticketmaster.com and all Ticketmaster locations, including Kaufmann's stores.

In 2003, when Lauper performed at the Casino, she had just released her album "At Last." In 2004, Lauper came out with "Shine." This legendary baby-boomer, now 51, is still packing in audiences for her "candy colored style" that helped launch MTV in the 1980s with songs including "Girls Just Want to Have Fun" and "Time After Time." While her music is memorable, so is her reputation as fun-loving and flamboyant. The unique style of her earlier career influenced the dress of American teenage girls for years.

Born in Brooklyn, Lauper's first song on guitar was "Greensleeves" at age 12.

By her twenties, she was singing with several New York-area cover bands and severely damaged her vocal chords requiring more than a year of voice therapy to recover. In 1977, she formed Blue Angel, a band with a short-lived three-year history which led to her career as a soloist.

She signed with Portrait Records and her first solo album in 1980, "She's So Unusual," was a smashing success. Selling more than 9 million copies worldwide, it was the first time a female artist scored four Top 5 hits from a single debut album including the aforementioned "Girls Just Want to Have Fun" and "Time After Time," along with "She Bop" and "All Through the Night." Awards quickly followed as she collected the American Music Awards for Favorite Female Vocalist in Pop/Rock and Video Pop/Rock, a GRAMMY® Award for Best New Artist, "Rolling Stone" Best New Artist and Best Female Video Artist and MTV's Best Female Video Artist.

After her 1984 world tour, Lauper contributed her writing and singing talents to the movie "The Goonies." She provided the theme song entitled "The Goonies `R' Good Enough," which became a Top 10 hit. She also found time to sit down and design all the t-shirts sold at her concerts.

In 1986, her "True Colors" album was launched with appearances by top-name performers including Billy Joel, Nile Rodgers, Rick Derringer, Aimee Mann and The Bangles. She received a GRAMMY® nomination for the title song.

Lauper made her motion picture debut in 1988 in "Vibes." She co-starred with Jeff Goldblum and they both played psychics. Even though most fans loved the movie, the critics panned it.

In 1989, "A Night to Remember" performed respectably, receiving a GRAMMY® nomination for the hit single, "I Drove All Night." Even more significant for her was her marriage to actor David Thornton in November 1991 at the Friends Meeting House in New York. Little Richard led the couple in the recitation of their non-traditional vows and Patti Labelle sang the wedding theme "Come What May." Albums "Hat Full of Stars," "Twelve Deadly Cyns ... And Then Some," "Sisters of Avalon" plus a US tour with Tina Turner and the birth of a son in 1977, Declyn, who served as inspiration for her first holiday album "Merry Christmas ... Have a Nice Life," rounded out the decade. She also made guest appearances on the television sitcom Mad About You for which she earned an Emmy.

The new millennium brought Lauper together with Cher as part of Cher's famed tour. It has been back to the recording studio for Lauper during the past two years with her aforementioned albums "At Last" and Shine."
