BLUES LEGEND BUDDY GUY COMING TO SENECA NIAGARA CASINO

NIAGARA FALLS, NY, March 2005 - Fresh from induction into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame on March 14, 2005, legendary blues artist Buddy Guy is headed to Seneca Niagara Casino's Bear's Den showroom. He is playing a single sold-out performance at 9 p.m. on Saturday, April 2. Tickets for this show went fast, selling out in just 10 minutes.

Eric Clapton has called Guy "the world's greatest guitar player." Guy is said to be the greatest living example of classic Chicago electric blues. He is a thrillingly inventive guitarist, a passionately soulful singer and a superlative showman. In a professional career that spans nearly half a century, Guy has sold more than two million albums, earned four GRAMMY® Awards and won 19 W.C. Handy Blues Awards - more than any other single artist.

Born in 1936, Guy started his music career in Baton Rouge, La., relocating to Chicago in 1957. Soon he was sharing the stage with Magic Sam, Luther Allison and Otis Rush, helping create the "Westside Sound" of Chicago Blues. While recording for Chess Records in the 1960s, Guy produced "Ten Years Ago" and "Let Me Love You Baby." Harmonica master Junior Wells played on both songs, launching an on-and-off again musical partnership and lifelong friendship. Together they crafted "Buddy and the Juniors" in 1970, "Drinkin' TNT `N' Smokin' Dynamite" in 1982 and "Last Time Around - Live at Legends" in 1989. They were called the Blues Brothers long before Jake and Elwood. The duo also toured the world with the Rolling Stones in 1970s.

In 2001, Buddy Guy released "Sweet Tea," likely the most critically acclaimed album of his career. The album contained exciting new interpretations of songs originally recorded by such blues originators of the north Mississippi hill country as Robert Cage, T-Model Ford and Junior Kimbrough. Guy stripped away the horn sections, keyboards and guest vocalists of his 1990s recordings to create a fierce, stripped-down sound. It also earned a GRAMMY® nomination for Best Contemporary Blues Album.

Guy is an internationally celebrated symbol of the living blues. In 2003 at New York's Radio City Music Hall, Guy broke up the house in a gala "Salute to the Blues." This all-star show included B.B. King, Macy Gray, Alison Krauss, The Neville Brothers and Aerosmith among others. But "the evening seemed to belong to Buddy Guy," according to Billboard magazine.

Guy is perhaps the most widely recognized blues guitarist and vocalist living today. His explosive, exhilarating guitar style has influenced untold blues guitarist including some of the biggest names in rock and roll history such as Jimi Hendrix and Eric Clapton. When Guy is not playing his guitar, he can often be found serving food at his Chicago club, Buddy Guy's Legends.
