JACKDAW TO CELEBRATE ST. PATRICK'S DAY AT BEAR'S DEN
NIAGARA FALLS, NY, February 2005 - St. Patrick's Day is being celebrated at Seneca Niagara Casino's Bear's Den showroom with Jackdaw. The local Celtic rock group will take the stage for 7 p.m. and 9 p.m. performances on Thursday, March 17. Tickets are $8 and available at SenecaNiagaraCasino.com, Eight Clans Gift Shop, ticketmaster.com and all Ticketmaster locations, including Kaufmann's stores.
Taking inspiration from a passage in "Angela's Ashes," novelist Frank McCourt's autobiographical work, the five young men from South Buffalo named themselves Jackdaw. On St. Patrick's Day, they'll celebrate their fifth anniversary since forming the group.
Jackdaw puts a hard rock edge on traditional Irish faire. It is fast paced with a distinct Celtic twist. They combine some unusual instruments in their music including uilleann pipes, tin whistles, button box, English concertina, fiddle, mandolin and hurdy-gurdy. Their unusual and enigmatic songs have produced an ever-increasing loyal local following.
