WHEN THE SUN SETS OVER NIAGARA FALLS THE SKY WILL LIGHT UP
Niagara Falls, NY, June 2004 - For the second year, Seneca Niagara Casino has retained America's leading manufacturer and premier exhibitor of domestic and international displays, Zambelli Fireworks International, for a spectacular 20-minute fireworks extravaganza to celebrate Independence Day on Sunday, July 4th at 10 p.m. There will also be an on-site radio broadcast with WGRF from 8 to 10 p.m. prior to and during the fireworks display.
The fireworks will be launched from a field on 10th Street. The best seating for viewers will be near the Casino, especially on John Daly Boulevard and Falls Street.
"The fireworks display this year is of special significance with the rise of patriotism for the United States and in our own Nation," said Rickey L. Armstrong, Sr., President, Seneca Nation of Indians. "We're enjoying our new home in Niagara Falls and want to bring the best to thank the community for their support. Fireworks are something everyone can enjoy."
Zambelli Fireworks has been responsible for the "ooohs" and "aaahs" of creative firework spectaculars for more than 100 years, at events including the Statue of Liberty Anniversary Celebration, Papal visits to Toronto and the U.S., Super Bowls and presidential celebrations. They also were retained for the opening celebration of the Seneca Allegany Casino in Salamanca in May and the Niagara Gazette's 150th anniversary celebration.
Fireworks have been around for more than 2,000 years. Most historians credit China for the first pyrotechnics, which were simple bamboo tubes packed with saltpeter, sulfur and charcoal. Their loud bangs were used at weddings, funerals and birthdays to drive away evil spirits. Italian explorer Marco Polo brought Chinese fireworks back to Italy in the 1300s and Italy soon became the leading European center for the new art, supplying pyrotechnics to European churchmen and kings for important celebrations.
