A BIT OF NEW ORLEANS TO ENTERTAIN AT BEAR'S DEN

Niagara Falls, NY, June 2004 - New Orleans' royal family, The Neville Brothers, will give a command performance live onstage at the Bear's Den Showroom at Seneca Niagara Casino on Saturday, July 31 at 9 p.m. Tickets for the shows are $30 and are available at SenecaNiagaraCasino.com, the Eight Clans Gift Shop, tickemaster.com and all Ticketmaster locations, including Kaufmann's.

The combined musical recording careers of the four Neville brothers would total well over a century. The four siblings - Arthur, Charles, Aaron and Cyril - didn't officially unite under The Neville Brothers banner until 1977. Prior to that, they all had led musical paths and enjoyed success with unrelated projects. Eldest brother Art was the first to tackle a recording career. In 1954, his high school band, The Hawketts, cut "Mardi Gras Mambo," a song that later became the annual carnival's unofficial anthem. Both Aaron and Charles later joined The Hawketts as well. When Art joined the Navy in 1958, he handed Aaron the group's vocal lead.

Aaron had his first solo hit, "Over You," in 1960, and six years later had the number two chart hit "Tell It Like It Is." Art returned from the service and began his own solo career and in 1967, formed Art Neville and the Sounds including both Aaron and Charles. Cyril joined them the following year and the group performed as The Meters. Over the next eight years, the brothers had separate musical careers: keyboardist Art cut some wild 1950s rhythm and blues; Aaron had his own solo hit; Charles had a saxophone career combined with a teaching position at Goddard College in Vermont; and Cyril gained a reputation as a Meter member and was recognized for his funky style.

The year 1977 reunited the brothers for the formal birth of The Neville Brothers. Unfortunately, it came a year after the death of their biggest fan, their mother. Their flamboyant uncle, Mardi Gras Indian George Landry, convinced them to come together and their hit "The Wild Tchoupitoulas" launched the new group.

The Neville Brothers' career began to grow gradually outside of their beloved New Orleans. In 1981, "Fiyo On The Bayou" became a hit with the help of fan Bette Midler securing producer Joel Dorn. Relentless touring, coupled with the country's growing fascination for all things New Orleans, led to a slow breakthrough. Aaron's solo hit in 1991, "Warm Your Heart," produced by Linda Ronstadt, also added to the momentum. "Mona Lisa," "The Ten Commandments Of Love," "Yellow Moon," "Everybody Plays The Fool," "Brother's Keeper" along with renditions of "Iko Iko" and "Brother John" put them on the recording map.

The Neville Brothers have sold millions of records worldwide and have gold and platinum records in six different countries. They are frequent featured performers on television on programs ranging from "Good Morning America" to "Saturday Night Live" and have had their own Cinemax/HBO special available for home video.
